Ceramic Vase with Bouquet £18.99!Jersey – Past: Present: Memories: Mementoes

Talking of fly pasts, it will soon be the time when the island celebrates the anniversary of our liberation in 1945. We’re always delighted welcoming visitors to share these emotional memories and there are some excellent value short breaks to consider.

But before that there will be a forthcoming historic occasion for us all to enjoy – the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton. I hope that all of you will be able enjoy the day. Did you know that Jersey has particular Royal links?

Jersey was part of the French Duchy of Normandy which came under the English monarchs’ command in the early 12th century. Jersey, as a Dependent Territory of The Crown, remains a self governing “Bailiwick” with allegiance to the reigning English Monarch – to us the Duke of Normandy (our loyal toast is to “The Duke of Normandy, our Queen!”).

It seemed appropriate for us to commemorate the Royal Wedding – but not in an “over the top”, or expensive way. Also we know that quite a few of you have an interest in collectables and stamps. So we have commissioned a small range of affordable Jersey themed items, which you can buy, or in one case even send, as celebratory mementoes.

Well, that makes a change, writing about gardening and history! Wishing you all a wonderful start to spring, and a Happy Easter.

Yours faithfully

Tim Dunningham

PS. Any item you buy from the magazine counts towards the Mystery Plants Offer, saving you £7 on plants.
