Grow Your Own Natural Mushrooms!

A great way to produce 100% natural, freshly grown, healthy mushrooms. From picked to table in less than 10 minutes, these mushrooms are the perfect accompaniment for those winter meals. An excellent ingredient for a healthy diet and with five varieties to choose from there’s plenty of choice and flavours. These mushrooms are easy and fun to grow for all the family.

Recently we decided to test out our brilliant new Shitake mushroom kits, growing them here in our Jersey office. Shitake Mushrooms are spicy in flavour and are perfect for oriental dishes. Recent studies have shown that this variety is good for helping to protect against cardiovascular diseases and a fantastic source of Iron.

We started growing our Shitake mushrooms, following the simple instructions included. Firstly, we took them out of the pack, and covered them with the lid provided. In only three days the mushrooms had grown quickly and all we had to do was add a little water. By the fourth day the mushrooms had grown to their recommended height of 4-8 cm and were ready for picking and eating!

Also take a look at our other fantastic varieties on offer –

  • White Mushroom – this is the usual variety commonly found for sale in supermarkets and shops. A great favourite for their mild, woodsy flavour.
  • Chestnut Mushroom – this is a brown variety of the white mushroom, they have a similar taste.
  • Oyster Mushroom - contain a high level of vitamins, proteins and non-saturated fatty acids and have a high nutritional value. Also said to reduce cholesterol levels and have anti cancer properties.
  • Yellow Oyster Mushrooms are the more common Grey Oyster Mushroom above.
