When Should I Prune My Evergreen Viburnum?

Here at Jersey Plants Direct we sell stunning Viburnum plants. Follow this pruning guide to get it right this year…

The best time to prune your evergreen viburnum in early summer. You can also cut back harshly to ground level in late spring.

There are different types of Viburnum…

  • Felty Viburnum rhytidophyllum needs little pruning in late winter, it can be roughly shaped.
  • Viburnum davidii also rarely needs pruning, except to keep it neat. Cut back strong shoots in late spring for a harsh pruning.

Watch out for beetle larvae, which love to feed on the new growth of viburnum. Spray these pests with appropriate insecticide.
