It’s National Gardening Week!

The RHS has launched national gardening week to get Britain more involved with gardening. This week ties in with Britain in Bloom (read more about that here) and aims to show Britons the benefits of getting out in the garden!

This year it’s the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics – there’s never been a better time to be British. Celebrate by getting out into the garden either to transform your local community or focus on your own garden. Theres even a fantastic competition from Gardeners World called ‘The Big Basket Challenge’ where gardeners are encouraged to enter their Jubilee or Olympic themed baskets. You can find out more about this competition by clicking here!

Throughout national gardening week there will be top gardening tips from experts, helpful horticultural career advice, and a range of fun activities for families at each of the four RHS Gardens. Click here to find out more about specific events!

You can even organise your own local events by clicking here! Plant swaps, free garden tours, workshops and wildflower planting, are just some of the events being organised up and down the country by private gardens, allotment societies, nurseries, libraries and community groups, to get the nation growing.  If you’re passionate about gardening but can’t make the pre-planned events, make your own!

Let us know what you’ve enjoyed most about this week by writing on our Facebook wall here!
